Good things come and go but now in the last day of 2008 i have to say goodbye to my beloved old office. I will start my own company tomorrow called Web nation and that makes me really happy. I have some words for my old office as well..
Good bye dear office you where my throne for a while but now i have to say good bye. In these strange time as we are living in managed to start a business of my own in Web Development.
Okay now with that out of the way there is a bit of jolly news as well…. Now that i am starting a new company i was promoted to be a top 1000 developer for Wordpress. This news excites me more to continue developing wonderful tools for you all to use including commercial tools.
In 2009 i will be showing you more tutorials and screen casts but lately i was a bid busy getting my company off the ground for the next year to come. Next year i will give you readers a brief introduction into Iphone development so you can go out and sell your own Iphone Applications in Apple her app store. We will have discussions about mobile development like Iphone related and Google`s Android. You may ask why ? read the slogan of this blog

Since i just released version 1.6 to the public i would like to tell you all what you could expect for the upcoming version 1.7. The new version will also be a major update probably even bigger then version 1.6 (Which was realy huge).
Social Media – Wordpress MU:
Twitme is going to make a step to Wordpress MU this means that it will be available even wider then with wordpress alone. Thousends and thousends more will be abled to use Twitme not to forget wordpress.com users (Altho im not realy sure if they are allowed to upload their own plugins). The overal admin of a Wordpress MU blog can now upload the plugin and allow all of his blog owners to use this plugin to communicate with Twitter.
New Logo:
As you can see ontop is this post we have a new logo for Twitme as from version 1.7.
Social Media – Wordpress MU + Buddy press:
Yes Buddy press is also supported in version 1.7 of Twitme. It will mix in with the logged in user and binds to there profile page. If you send a new Wire from Buddy press you will automatically send this to Twitter. The administrator for the blog who runs the blog can still use a separated Twitter account to send his own posts to Twitter. Buddypress users will have all functionality of what a wordpress admin has but it will be separated for each and every user.
Widget:
Yep long expected but now realized … Thats the Twitme widget that you can use to run on the front page of Wordpress or Wordpress MU. It will show you last 10 posts you received on your public timeline.
Twitme does its first steps on the Desktop:
After Twitter for wordpress and Twitter for wordpress MU we are also stepping out of the browser and onto the desktop. This application will run on Windows, Linux and Mac os. The framework around Twitme for the desktop will be Adobe air. Of Course your can do everything with Twitme for the desktop as what you can do with Twitme for wordpress. In later versions i might connect these 2 releases as well so that Twitme for the desktop can be used to control Twitme from wordpress without having to login to your blog administration section.
Caching:
I will also introduce caching of Followers images so that we can reduse the traffic between twitter and Twitme, The result that will be that your Twitme`s will load up quicker as ever before. Also your followers will be cashed.
Smileys:
Yes we all love to smile right ? Now since this will be a social release we also introduce Emotions to Twitme. This means if anyone uses a smiley sign like or it will be translated into a 16×16 smile on your Twitter tab.
Geolocations:
Ofcource in Twitme version 1.6 i have introduced the Twit-Map winch shows you the location of your follows in a Google map. Now this idea gets an extension in Twitme version 1.7 and above. Wordpress has the Turbo button on the dashboard winch is powered by Gears , With Gears you can get the geo location of your current location on the world. My idea is to capture your geolocation when your publishing a new message on your blog and it will send that over to Twitter. Think about it if your making a trip around the world while blogging about it your location on the Twit Map will follow you .

Update: At a later stage maybe even during Twitme 1.7 development there will also be a comercial Twitme pro aplication with more possible options like themese and profile settings. At the same time we will have a Iphone application for sale in the Apple store for $1.5 per copy.
Finally i was abled to proccess the litle bugs that where found in Twitme 1.6 Beta 1. I have made some changes since version 1.6b1 that apply to usabilty and readabilty.
With Twitme 1.6 Beta 2 there is a litle bug for new users that does not allow saving username and password for Twitter. To workaround this install the current stable version of Twitme (Version 1.5.2) and setup your personal settings. Then upgrade your Twitme to the 1.6 Beta 2 here. PS: This bug has been fixed in Twitme 1.6 Beta 3 for developers whinch will be released next week.
On this version you will see that i have the Followers window and the Updates with below each other, This allows you to get a better overview of your community and messages.

An other new options is the Twit Map this allows you to see your followers where every they are on the world. The Twit Map takes the location of the followers from Titme and displays it on a Google Map.

This information will be only used for statistical purposes and maintenance help. The author of Twitme will on no case use this information for anything else then maintenance support or Statistical information.
Communication between Twitme and Twitter
Communication between Twitme and Twitter goes over a non-secured line. Twitter does not allow (yet) sending data over a secured line, This could change in the future.
Communication between Twitme Google Maps
In your Twitter settings panel you can set your location. This location will reflect the location that you use to send your Tweets from. Twitme as from version 1.6 uses this location from your followers to send it to Google Maps to indicated there position on the world. Twitme will NOT send this information to any other third party or store this information on any server. Google Maps will also not save the location of your followers on there servers.
For your own privacy Google Maps support will be disabled by default. If you wish to see your followers on the “Twit Map” then you should add a Google Maps key API key in the Twitme settings panel.

I have decided to pre-release this next version of Twitme because this release (version 1.6 ) will be of such a big caliber that it really needs to be tested properly.There fore i am calling out for the community to test this version before it officially comes out.
Update: Thanks to the communitie i have found i few things that will be fixed in the beta 2 version for Twitme 1.6
Followers – There is an annoying gray border below every Follower (Be gone)
Twitmessage Posted time – Bug in the calculations of when i time line message was posted.
Folowers Screen – “These are your followers” use capital F on Followers
Wordpress 2.7 – Move the Followers and update box closer to each other

If you download this pre-release of Twitme you have to know that this version is not yet the final version. This release might still contain some bugs, that’s why I’m hoping that you all provide me with with feedback on what you think about it and how it could be done better.
Depending on the findings of the community i will release the official version within now and two weeks from now. But if there are many bugs found i will wait an other additional two weeks and release a second pre release instead.
