A new version of Twitme was released because of a change in Twitter thair API. This caused that the Followers would not display on Twitme and it was no longer possible to mark any post as favorite or even see the public timeline.

Changes in 1.6.9.5

1. Fixed a bug where Favorites didnt show up
2. FIxed a bug where Followers didnt show up
3. Fixed a bug where Wordpress report duplicate definition of user_sort

While all of you are waiting for the new and improved version of Twitme entitled 1.7 i had to release 1.6.9.3 because of a few reasons. The most important reason for releasing this update is that in Twimte 1.6.9.3 there where was one security bug. The bug was that Twitme was submitting pages to Twitter but more important it was submitting password protected posts and that is something we don’t want at anytime.

For those of you following Twitme 1.7 development i am happy to Announce an alpha release on the backbone engine. This engine is the  part of Twitme that sends the posts over to Twitme so no fancy stuff. You will get some glimpse of Twitme on buddypress.  A last change in the engine will allow you to write your own plugins to Twitme instead of wordpress. The buddypress component will be the first plugin and twitter pic the second.

First of all for you Twitme users i am sorry for the reasend update wave for the Twitme 1.6 series. This wave of bugs made me totaly recode Twitme 1.7 from scratch nothing in the code of Twitme 1.7 will remind of the Twitme 1.6 code but it will have loads of new features to use. The part im strugling with while im coding the new release is that the buddypress version should be basicaly an undressed version of the actual app.

I have been thinking to do the following on buddypress and i would like to hear some feedback from buddpress social networks on this.

• List followers
• Sent / read and manage messsages from Twitter
• Allow use of geolocations from Wireposts

So please get the discussion going before i get to the buddypress part whinch will be around 2 weeks maybe even one from now.

Every one is looking forward to Twitme 1.7 because of the social features it will bring to the blogging community but i am going to announce one more new feature in the 1.6 series. I like to browse Twitter for impressions about the Twitme plugin (via this url). While browsing this page i have found out that some blogs use rss feeds to import posts from other blogs, The downside of using Twitme on those blogs is that it could lead to 100 tweets on Twitter in 5 minutes. This and a post on the support forum made me think of adding an option omit given category`s from being posted onto Twitter.

Also Twitme 1.6.8 will fix bugs that are related to blank pages on the Twitme main page.  You will see that Twitme 1.6.8 will be released within a few days from now.
